Disney Walt Disney is one of the most recognizable brands in the world today and this is mainly because of the fact that this company has contributed immensely in the development of the film industry for decades. Disney from its beginnings has been a leader in both animation and live-action films and it has, for a long time remained without any equal. While it is a fact that it has come to face many rivals in the past few years, Disney remains the leading conglomerate of its kind in the world with the highest revenues when compared to its rivals. Disney, because of the need to retain its top position in the industry, has worked towards ensuring that it gives free rein to its employees so that they can be able to develop better ideas without interference from management (Bhasin). For this to happen, however, this company has created an environment where its employees feel at home to ensure that there is a constant increase in the their creative output, without which the company would not survive long in the market. The comfortable working environment which has been developed for its employees has made it possible for this company to attract the best talent in the industry to work within its ranks. Disney has followed the path of other companies in the industry by allowing itself to be influenced by the impersonal nature of the working environment. It has been realized that the development of such environment more often than not leads to the stifling of the initiative among employees. It is for this reason that Disney has chosen to retain an environment where its employees are provided with the best opportunity to work as well as to be innovative. One of the ideals which have been developed by Disney has been the development of a cross-cultural environment within which its employees can work. This has been to ensure the empowerment of its employees and one of the ways to achieve this has been giving them forums to air their views concerning what they feel about the different projects which are being developed within the company. Moreover, employees have been given the initiative to develop ideas concerning how different aspects of productions can be made better for audiences in a bid by Disney’s management to ensure that its employees have the freedom to be creative. Another strategy which this company has adopted towards its employees is ensuring that it places a lot of value in their aspirations, which has been achieved through the development of an empowerment program which ensures that the pool of their employees is retained through training and frequent advancement. Disney has come to make sure that it has developed training programs for its employees so that they have sufficient knowledge concerning what its customers would like to view and how they can go about developing projects to satisfy the customers’ needs. It is for this reason that in recent years, Disney has been able to produce films such as Pirates of the Caribbean franchise which have been extremely popular worldwide. The innovative strategy of this company has over the years come to encompass three roles which include the following: dreamer, realist and critic. These strategies have been adopted to ensure that the employees are able to translate ideas that they create into reality so that the company can continue to retain its top position in the film industry. The people who develop projects are often encouraged to let their minds to wander freely because this enables them to produce visionary ideas without there being any boundaries to hinder their creativity. In this way, these individuals are able to develop ideas concerning what they would like to see in the ideal production and with these ideas firmly embedded in their minds, they are able to work towards making them a reality through brainstorming with others on how their ideas can be developed further (Bernstein). The fact that employees are allowed the freedom to develop their own ideas and later discuss it with others has enabled Disney to come up with productions which are not only exciting to their audiences but also unique in the sense that they have never been conceived before. Moreover, Disney works closely with those employees who have developed brilliant ideas to ensure that these ideas are put into a plan which can be made into reality and this is done through an evaluation of what is realistic and what is not, with the former being put into practice (Calandro 43). There is brainstorming to make the proper decisions concerning how the different milestones to the projects can be overcome so that the plan can be initiated and maintained by a team which has been selected to deal with it. Before a project can be put into place, Disney has found it necessary to test it so that all the problems and unintended consequences can be effectively analyzed because this is the only way to provide an accurate picture of the possibility of the project succeeding. Disney has found it necessary to acquire competent managers for projects and this is one of the strategies which this company has adopted to ensure that it is successful and has been able to retain its success. Disney has seen the need to have competent managers because it is through the acquisition of such managers that the company has been able to ensure that it does not face any damaging issues because of the mismanagement of projects (Ingraham). Therefore, Disney has rarely faced any losses through the failure of its productions and has on the contrary, managed to stay at the top of its game through the production of successful films which have developed a cult following. Ensuring that it understands the needs of its audiences as well as developing unique products has led to the ever increasing confidence that the public has in its ability to provide entertainment for people of all ages, from the very young to the old.
